What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is not just a foot massage! Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands. This technique utilizes the points on the hands, feet and ears that correspond, or “reflex” to other areas of the body which can effect a physical change in the body. Similar in theory to acupressure, a Reflexologist applies the appropriate pressure to these points and stimulates the flow of energy helping to relieve pain or blockages throughout the entire body. A very pleasurable form of bodywork, Reflexology is also used to ease stress and promote relaxation.

How Does Reflexology Work?

Reflex points on the feet, hands and ears connect to organs, glands and all parts of the body, similar to the meridians in acupuncture. By massaging those reflex points the associated glands, organs and systems are stimulated. These cells receive more blood supply, more oxygen and the lymphatic system assists the immune system by removing toxins and cellular waste. Reflexology has been shown to release endorphins – the ‘feel good’ hormones.

By using the body meridians to do energy work through Reflexology, we focus on the meridians that connect with every organ of the body. Reflexology can help with energy blockages which can be the result of stress, an injury or trauma and can be traced to the root of all health (physical/mental/spiritual) problems.

Our energy flow affects how we feel, how we think, and the overall condition of our health situation. When the body’s life-force energy becomes blocked, various imbalances will result. Regular Reflexology sessions can help to balance these meridians and can be very beneficial for maximum wellness and quality longevity.

Meet Leslie

I completed my certification in Reflexology from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe AZ in September 2017. Prior to that I worked in the health care field for 30 years as an Administrator and Project Manager. I often share with others how I was introduced to Reflexology and what made me decide to pursue my life’s journey as a Reflexologist.

My first encounter with Reflexology was on a Pink School Bus during a 1- year Anniversary celebration for my friends’ business idea of hosting events on a refurbished school bus. It was definitely not the kind of space you would think that a Reflexology session would be given, but on that particular day, I met a woman who was offering her Reflexology services to guests attending the celebration and she was using her gifts to help people relax and unwind during what seemed like a 1 hour nap experience. After my 15 min session was over, she revealed to me that while she was working on my feet, my energy level felt very positive and outgoing, but that she could also feel from my energy that I needed to love myself more. Curious and feeling quite startled by her insightful message, I left the school bus with her business card in hand and thanked her for the wonderful relaxing experience. My journey truly began on that day because I wanted to learn more about how she was able to pick up something that was so deep and personal about me just by working on my feet in such a short amount of time together.

And so my journey started with having regular Reflexology sessions with my therapist and experiencing the amazing transformational benefits in my own body. I invite you to come and experience your own healing transformation using Reflexology to make the connection between your mind, body and soul. Your feet will thank you for it!
