Meet Amey & Elise
I am Amey Fields of Az Breastfed Babies LLC and I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a labor and delivery nurse with over 20 years of experience helping moms and babies with breastfeeding.
I am also a wife and mother. My husband Steven retired from the United States Coast Guard in 2016 after serving for 30 years. He is my biggest supporter and when he is not helping me he is always helping someone else. I have three teenagers, Callahan, Emma and Conner. Each one of my birth experiences have been very different and each one has shaped me to be the nurse I am today. I have experienced a natural birth with a midwife, a hospital birth with an OB, and a Cesarean birth for a persistent breech baby!
I started working as a labor and delivery nurse in 1998 and in 2010 I was given the opportunity to run the community education department at the hospital I was working at. I became Lamaze certified and began teaching childbirth and newborn care classes to expectant parents. I also started and facilitated a wonderful postpartum support group called Circle of Mothers that I still offer as a free weekly group today.
In addition to working as a labor nurse in the hospital setting I have also assisted with home births and spent 2 years working at a free standing birth center.
I currently work parttime as a nurse educator for Premier Care for Woman in Surprise, Az. Premier Care for Women pairs the care of an OB, Dr. Gary Newman, Dr. Heather Lesmes and Certified Nurse Midwives, Janette Drogowski, Amanda Simon, and Yvonne Downs. This well rounded care supports low intervention rates, natural births, VBACS, and gentle cesarean births at Banner Del Webb hospital.
I also offer lactation support both in your home and in an office in Goodyear.
It is my passion to help moms and babies learn the breastfeeding dance as well as teach classes and to continue to offer postpartum support. See my Lactation Services for more information.
I’m Elise Strickland, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Clinical PT Supervisor and Yoga Instructor in training at The Wellness Center and Yoga Therapies. I graduated from Midwestern University in 2012 and spent the last 6 years gaining experience in various settings. I worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic, 360 Physical Therapy performing outpatient orthopedic, spine and prenatal therapy to expectant mothers as well as women post mastectomy. I later left and moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital establishing a physical therapy program within the Emergency room, working on the cardiac, neuro, observation and trauma floors as well as assisting with expectant mamas on bed rest as well as observing and interacting with the neonatal population. I had always had a strong passion for Women’s Health therapy & Pediatrics but it wasn’t until I joined The Wellness Center that those passions were able to be combined. Since joining the team in 2017, I have learned so much such as the
importance of combining traditional medicine with manual therapy and holistic therapies to address all elements of a person. Aside from being a Physical Therapist, I am also a wife to Michael and mother to Logan, our amazing 2.5 yr old little boy. My pregnancy, delivery - an unplanned emergency C-section and recovery process furthered my passion for providing quality care to expectant and postpartum mamas. Amey and I met this past year and realized our passions and dreams were one in and of the same, providing quality care and education to both fellow mama’s and their littles while also providing them a safe, comforting place & a “tribe” to join. It takes a tribe to raise a child and we welcome you to join ours. #MamaTribe
